The HTML code is saved in text files with the html extension. This can be, for example, the page.html file (any name may be before the extension). When we open such a file in a web browser, the HTML code contained in it will be interpreted and only the content without the code will be displayed.
A website is a collection of HTML documents (files) between which we can navigate, for example, via links in these documents.
HTML files can be edited in regular Notepad on your computer, but also in other special programs that facilitate this edition. They have the ability to open the entire project in the form of a file and directory tree, provide syntax highlighting, or guard the code formatting.
